Description

A warm sandwich with crispy bacon, melted cheddar cheese, and buttery toasted bread, perfect for a quick lunch or cozy dinner with optional fresh or caramelized toppings.


Ingredients

  • 2 slices sturdy bread (e.g. sourdough or country loaf)
  • 24 slices bacon
  • 12 slices cheddar cheese or melty cheese of choice
  • 12 tablespoons softened butter for toasting
  • Optional: thin slices of onion (caramelized or raw)
  • Optional: thin slices of tomato

Instructions

  1. Cook bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, then drain on paper towels.
  2. Spread a thin layer of softened butter on one side of each bread slice.
  3. Assemble sandwich by placing cheese on the non-buttered side of one slice, add bacon and optional onion or tomato, then top with the other slice, buttered side out.
  4. Heat a clean skillet over medium-low heat, place sandwich inside, press gently with spatula or cover with lid, and cook 3–5 minutes per side until golden and cheese is melted.
  5. Remove sandwich, let rest for a minute, then cut in half and serve warm.
