A warm, naturally sweet bake combining roasted butternut squash and juicy apples with cinnamon and nutmeg, perfect as a cozy fall side or dessert.

- 1 medium butternut squash (peeled, seeded, and cubed)
- 2–3 apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith, peeled and sliced)
- 2–3 tablespoons melted butter or olive oil
- 2–3 tablespoons brown sugar or maple syrup (optional)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Pinch of salt
- Optional: chopped pecans or walnuts for topping
- Optional: honey or maple syrup for drizzling
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease or line a baking dish with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, toss the cubed butternut squash and sliced apples with melted butter, brown sugar or maple syrup if using, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until evenly coated.
- Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish and sprinkle chopped nuts on top if desired.
- Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until squash is tender and lightly caramelized and apples are soft.
- Remove from oven and let cool slightly, then drizzle with honey or maple syrup if desired before serving warm.
