Whimsical Christmas Tree Cream Puffs That Impress and Delight
Ingredients

- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
- 1 cup (240ml) water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
- 4 large eggs, at room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups (360ml) cold heavy cream
- 1/2 cup (60g) powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup (40g) pistachio paste
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1–2 drops green food coloring (optional)
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups (155g) all-purpose flour
- Pinch of salt
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Cream butter and sugar until fluffy, then add vanilla. Mix in flour and salt until soft dough forms. Roll out and cut star shapes. Bake 8–10 minutes until lightly golden and cool completely.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). In a saucepan, combine butter, water, salt, and sugar. Bring to a boil, then stir in flour until dough pulls from sides. Cool slightly, then beat in eggs one at a time until glossy. Pipe small rounds in three sizes and bake 20–25 minutes until golden. Cool completely.
- Whip cold cream until soft peaks form. Add powdered sugar, pistachio paste, vanilla, and optional food coloring. Whip to stiff peaks and refrigerate.
- Slice puffs horizontally. Pipe cream onto bottoms, stack large, medium, and small puffs to form a tree, and top each with a shortbread star. Dust with powdered sugar.
