Crispy Chilli Beef with Sweet Chilli: A Flavor Explosion

Ingredients

Scale
  • 200 g Rump/Sirloin steak
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 cup Corn/Potato Starch
  • 0.5 Sweet Onion
  • 0.5 Bell Pepper
  • 23 Spring Onions
  • 23 Birdeye/hot chillies
  • 1 tbsp Light soy sauce
  • 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp Sesame oil
  • 0.5 tsp Sugar
  • 0.25 tsp White Pepper
  • 3 tbsp Sweet Chilli Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Light soy sauce
  • 1 tsp Vinegar (white or rice)
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 0.5 tsp Salt

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef into thin strips and marinate with the marinade ingredients for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Combine all the stir fry sauce ingredients in a bowl and whisk until smooth, then set aside.
  3. Incorporate the egg into the marinated beef strips to bind the coating.
  4. Coat the beef strips evenly with corn or potato starch, separating the pieces well.
  5. Heat oil in a pan until it reaches about 350°F. Deep fry the coated beef strips for 1-2 minutes until golden and crispy.
  6. Drain the fried beef on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  7. Sauté the onions in a preheated wok or pan with oil for a few seconds, then add bell pepper slices.
  8. Mix in the crispy beef strips and pour in the prepared sauce, adding spring onions and fresh chillies.
  9. Plate the dish and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Adjust the number of chillies based on your spice tolerance.
  • Use any tender steak cut for best results.
