- 250 g (2 cups) all-purpose flour
- 200 g (1 cup) granulated sugar
- 10 g (2 tsp) baking powder
- 3 g (1/2 tsp) fine salt
- 113 g (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 240 ml (1 cup) whole milk, room temperature
- 120 g (1/2 cup) sour cream
- 10 ml (2 tsp) pure vanilla extract
- Optional: Zest from 1 lemon or 1 tsp almond extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F) and prepare the pan.
- Sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Cream the butter and sugar in a stand mixer until pale and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
- Alternately add the dry ingredients with the milk and sour cream until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan, then transfer to a cooling rack. Frost once completely cool.
Notes
Always measure dry ingredients by weight for best results. Let ingredients come to room temperature before mixing.
