Ingredients

  • 2 slices of sandwich bread
  • 1 seasoned beef patty (approximately 1/4 pound)
  • 2 slices of melty cheese (cheddar, American, or Swiss)
  • 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Season the beef patty with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Cook the patty for 4-5 minutes on one side until browned.
  4. Flip and cook for 3-4 minutes more, until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  5. Remove the patty from the skillet and set aside to rest.
  6. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  7. Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in the skillet.
  8. Add one slice of cheese, then the beef patty, and another slice of cheese.
  9. Top with the second slice of bread, butter-side up.
  10. Grill for 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.
  11. Flip the sandwich and cook the other side for 3-4 minutes until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  12. Remove from skillet, slice in half, and serve warm.
