Ingredients

- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup buttermilk
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tbsp lemon zest
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- ¼ cup powdered sugar (for coating)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix egg, buttermilk, melted butter, lemon zest, and lemon juice.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until combined.
- Spoon the batter into the donut pan and smooth the tops.
- Bake for 12 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the donuts cool slightly, then dip in powdered sugar.
Notes
For extra lemon flavor, you can add lemon extract to the batter.
