Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, mixing until incorporated.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients until just combined.
- Portion dough into tablespoon-sized pieces, roll into ropes about 5-6 inches long, and twist them into shapes.
- If needed, chill the formed twists on a tray for 10 minutes.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden and centers are soft.
- Remove from oven, cool on a rack, and dust with powdered sugar or dip ends in chocolate if desired.
